Transition Drawings
Transition drawings use drawings as a way of telling a simple set of directions. They illustrate in detail sequential steps so the end user can follow along.
Common symbols of transition drawings include arrows and simplified versions of tools.
* Create one page of hand drawn arrows. At least 20 different varieties.
The company Ikea is a great example for transition drawings in use today. Look at the below examples.
When Ikea uses drawings as their primary communication tool with their directions they eliminate the need for translations into different languages and confusion of parts.
Ikea also includes an "assembly man" in front of their directions to show what tools and materials the user will need in each step.
* complete a drawing of an "assembly man" of your design. Have them show 3 tools that someone may need for a DIY project.
